My Plan-
For this shoot my plan was to take photos of the stage of a competition/convention I went to over the weekend. These types of competitions have really unique stages and I wanted to take a picture of it while I had the chance. I want to increase the vibrance and saturation of the photos, so that the colors stand out.
My Photo Shoot-
For this photo shoot I took pictures of the really cool stage at the competition/convention I went to. All the lights would change colors automatically, but while I was taking the photos the lights were blue and purple. Using stages are very plain, with nothing in the background except for a white sheet or a sheet that has the title of the competition on it. This one was very different, so I decided to capture that and add it to my photo collection about dance.
Edited Photos-
Here are my edited photos. For each of them I turned up the contrast, saturation, vibrance and turned down the brightness/lightness. This made the colorful lights pop out more and gave the photo more contrast overall. I feel like these photos represent the dance world well, because it is starting to move away from the more traditional aspects of dance, and moving towards the style outside of the box and this stage is definitely unique.
Printed Photo-
This is the photo I ended up printing. I chose this one because it was one of the only photos that you could tell what the photo was. Because this is such a unique stage, it is hard to figure out that it is a stage. I took this photo at a competition I went to over the weekend. I had a difficult time with the lighting because they didn't turn out as bright as they were in real life. I had to go through and turn up the saturation a lot to get the colors to be less dull. They didn't turn out as vibrant as they were in real life but it's the best photoshop could do. I also tried my hardest to make sure the contrast was really high, because I thought it made the colors stand out more when the dark places are really black. I like how the contrast between the dark and light colors creates emphasis on the lights around the stage. I also like how the lines create movement throughout the photo, because of all the boxes and the scaffolding. I like the color scheme in the photo, and I like how vibrant they are. Overall, I think this photo is successful in showing my over theme of dance because it shows the stage/competition portion of dance. Dance is a really unique sport and I think all the aspects of it are really underrated. I want to show all the aspects of it, and this is why I chose to take pictures of this unique stage.
