My Plan-
For this shoot I want to take photos of the dance trophies that line the halls in my dance studio. I want to focus on getting close ups of the colors of the ribbons as well as the gold on the trophies.
My Photos-
For this shoot I took photos of the trophies that are all around my dance studio. We have won them from dance competitions. I think that the gold color of the trophies goes well with pink and blue ribbons and that is why I chose to use these trophies from this one specific competition, instead of taking photos of different trophies. I chose to take photos of the trophies because competing at competitions are a huge part of the dance world I'm involved in.
My Edits-
Here are my edited photos for this assignment. I really like how the object in the foreground is lighter than the colors in the background because I think the contrast makes the photo unique. I like how the light shines off the trophies in the background of the photos and creates a sort of mysterious illusion. I didn't edit a whole lot on these photos because I really liked how the coloring turned out in the original photos. What I mostly did was turn up the saturation and turned down the lightness because I liked how the photo looked when it was darkened.
My Printed Photo-
This photo of these trophies is the one I decided to print. I took this photo by zooming in on a shelf full of trophies in my dance studio. I tried to get as many angles as possible, but I ended up like the close up of a trophy with a row of the rest behind it the best. I also really liked how the light was bouncing off the shiny trophies in the background to create an illusion. I like how this photo turned out, I think that it does a good job in representing another aspect of dance; competition. When dance is talked about, for very few people the first thing that comes into their mind is competition dance and I think it is important to encompass all the aspects of dance in my final project. In the photo I really like the contrast with the lightness of the top and how it gets darker as it goes down the photo. This photo also creates movement using line because your eye follows the horizontal line that moves through the photo from right to left. This could mean many things to a person but what I hope they get out of it is to see the complicated competition side of dance and that dance is more that pure movement. Overall, I think that this piece was successful in demonstrating my overarching theme of dance, because it encompasses a part of dance that isn't talked about with people that are not involved in the dance world.
